Church! Sleeping car, "Sunrise Seto", from Tokyo to Okayama
教会！後半の旅支度をして東京へ。寝台車サンライズ瀬戸に乗ります

After a night in our own futon, we held the church services, ate lunch
with the faithful, and, after an all too brief rest, started phase two
of our Virtual Vacation. We went the wrong way! But we did it on purpose…heading
first in the opposite direction to Odawara, where we caught a bullet train
to Tokyo, thence a sleeper car to Okayama.
夕飯は藤沢で済ませて、東海道線を東京へ行く変わりに、反対方向の小田原へ向かい、そこから東京へ新幹線。 |

This sleeper car was the worst experience of the trip! The whole car was divided up into coffin-sized sections, top and bottom. We had blow-up travel pillows, and the train company generously provided a postage-stamp sized blanket. I have never been claustrophobic, but came close on this experience, which lasted about 8? hours.
東京からは初めての寝台車"サンライズ瀬戸"のノビノビカーペット。前もってネットで調べたところ、カーペットにじかに寝るらしい。フルムーンパスでは、これしか使えないようだが、お年寄りにはちょっと厳しいんじゃないか？がさばるけど、寝袋を二つスーツケースに押し込む。枕も無いので、エアー枕を調達しておいた。日本人サイズと言っても、体格の大きな人にはかなりきつそうな洞窟のような場所で、はたしてジョンは寝られるのだろうか？ |
