2011 Virtual Vacation - Japan Railway, Full Moon Pass - - Day 3, Oct.5th, Wed. - Driving around Wakkanai area. 稚内周辺をドライブ Inset Map of Wakkanai …and so we did! Stopping first at McDonald’s for a “to go” breakfast, we went to Soya Misaki, the northernmost point in Japan. On a clear day you can see Sakhalin, Russia from here, but today was a little hazy. We drove the Eastern side of Hokkaido along the sea of Okhotsk…pristine and splendid are not too extravagant to describe. Lake Kucharo is beautiful and serene…a wildlife refuge, especially for swans and cranes migrating from Russia. We enjoyed the onsen at Lake Kucharo and the lunch was impressive, with big scallops, salmon, crab, shrimp, and all the fixin’s. 今日はレンタカーで稚内周辺をドライブ。　お決まりの宗谷岬、日本最北端を通って、オホーツク沿岸を南下してクッチャロ湖へ。クッチャロ湖の温泉に入って、お昼を食べて、満足満足。湖にはコハクチョウを含め、沢山の水鳥たちが集まってます。 Cape Soya 宗谷岬 Came again! また来たよ〜 Northernmost point 日本最北端のモニュメント Actual Northernmost point 実際の日本最北端(モニュメントの裏) Good lunch おいしいお昼 Hamatonbetsu plate 浜頓別定食(これで\1050は安い！) Rental Car トヨタのレンタカー Lake Kucharo クッチャロ湖 On the way back to Wakkanai we stopped at a reindeer farm and stretched our legs checking out the animals there. Back to our hotel in Wakkanai now and getting ready to go to dinner, will stay in tonight, watching DVD’s and reading. Tomorrow we head south to Obihiro and are looking forward to meeting Pastor Abraham Lee and his wife.
